1:1 Chat with Vidya Makan

The 1:1 Chats are a monthly online interview series delving into craft and process with industry professionals across the spectrum of disciplines in music theatre. 

This interview is with composer, lyricist, actor and singer, Vidya Makan. Most recently Vidya wrote, directed and produced the original song I NEED YOU TO SEE ME; a call to action to the entertainment industry for diverse representation and inclusion. You may also have seen her as the OG Catherine Parr in the Australian tour of  SIX: The Musical (Louise Withers & Associates). Vidya delivered a critically acclaimed performance as Dot/Marie in Sunday in the Park with George (Watch This) which earned her a 2020 Green Room Awards nomination for Best Performance in a Leading Role. Earlier in 2019, she played Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet with Australian Shakespeare Company. In 2018, Vidya toured nationally with Shake and Stir’s groundbreaking production of Green Day's American Idiot. She then originated a variety of characters in the world premiere of Air Race (Arena Theatre Company) written by award winning playwright, Dan Giovannoni.
